Carols at Warwick Castle promotes the spirit of Christmas and supports local charities

Tickets are now on sale for Carols at the Castle a popular charity event to be held in the magnificent grounds of Warwick Castle on Saturday 18th December 2010. The spectacular event held annually in the dramatic surroundings of Warwick Castle is a highlight of the festive calendar and raises funds of many local causes.

It is expected that the evening will be enjoyed by a capacity crowd of 2,500 people so it is advisable to book early. Last year’s event sold out well in advance and record funds were raised for local charities. The event encourages full participation from attendees and will feature carol singing from the outstanding Choirs of St Mary’s Church accompanied by the Royal Spa Brass Band. The event will also be compered by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire’s radio presenter Annie Othen. A range of hot food, mulled wine and mince pies will be on sale at the event, getting everyone into the festive mood for Christmas.

St Mary’s Choir, ConocoPhillips and Warwick Castle are also producing a spectacular competition alongside the main event which will aim to find the region’s next singing sensation. Over 60 local schools and numerous music groups are being invited to participate in the ‘Jet Factor’ competition and auditions will be held to find this year’s singing star. The winner will have the unique opportunity of performing a solo alongside the Choirs at the Carols at the Castle event. The first round of auditions will be held on the 13th November at St Mary’s Church and the Second will be held at Warwick Castle on the 27th November.

Several Midlands based businesses support the Carols event to make it a spectacular and memorable event for all and help raise significant funds for the charities. Sponsors include fuel supplier ConocoPhillips/Jet, the flexible marketing agency LMMC based in Leamington Spa and energy suppliers National Grid based in Warwickshire.

All proceeds raised go to the charities supported by the Warwick Lions Club, The Rotary Club of Warwick and the Friends of St Mary’s Choir charity. The event is also supported by Warwick Castle, and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
