Developers build links with pupils during visit

Schoolchildren learned about aspects of construction and design during a visit to a site in Worcester where a £75 million redevelopment is taking place.

Pupils from Stanley Road Primary School, Worcester, were treated to a tour of Lowesmoor by developers Carillion Richardson yesterday as part of a sustainable community initiative.

The project aims to design, cost and construct three key areas that surround the school – the sensory courtyard, the purple courtyard and the forest school park.

Pupils and school staff have created the design concepts which will be implemented by Carillon and completed in the summer.

Selwyn Rowley, of Carillion Richardson, said: “We are delighted to involve local school children with the project.

“As well as seeing an important scheme in the making, they should benefit from the regeneration and enjoy the shops and restaurants in years to come.”

Mr Rowley said work is progressing well on the £75 million Lowesmoor development, which is creating a leisure and retail centre, including the city’s first Asda store.

It is set to create hundreds of jobs.
