Kenilworth U 13s rugby team receives overwhelming support for Ireland tour

The rugby sporting occasion of 2008 is the Kenilworth Under 13’s tour of Ireland taking place between the 28th and the 31st of March. The successful Kenilworth rugby team has received an unprecedented level of support for its rugby tour including a personal message of support from Brian Ashton MBE the England Head Coach

“On behalf of the England senior squad I'd like to wish everyone connected with the Kenilworth RFC’s 2008 tour to Ireland all the very best. Touring is a vital part of any player’s development, irrespective of the level they play at and I'm sure all of the teams Kenilworth RFC face will provide very tough opposition.

Ireland has a wealth of rugby heritage and I hope that all the members of the playing squad and management take time out from playing and training to appreciate that fact should the opportunity arise,” he said.

With the support of the Kenilworth Chamber the squad has generated more than £1,500 of sponsorship from companies based in Kenilworth and the West Midlands. Main sponsors are: Woodside, a nearby conference centre; JG Molloy (building contractors); Trainbrains; Concept Mouldings Endura; SVEA Midlands and GAM Home Loan Specialists. We also have a donation from PLMCS and copywriting, design and print is by LMMC - The Flexible Marketing People and Technique Studios. The rugby team can also seen packing bags at Marks & Spencer, Leamington Spa over the Easter weekend.

The Kenilworth team has fixtures against Irish teams Dolphin RFC, Cobh Pirates and Sundays Well and will be staying at the Trabolgan Holiday village, in County Cork.

Peter Jones, team coach said: “This is the most exciting set of overseas fixtures since we took on the French two years ago. We have a team that is going from strength to strength and I am confident that the Kenilworth boys will give a good account of themselves.”

“The strength of junior rugby can only bode well for the future performance of our sides at senior club, national and international level and thanks to everyone involved, we really appreciate the amazing support we have received.” he added
