One side of Pheasant Street to close temporarily as ASDA entrance takes shape

One side of Pheasant Street will be closed for nine weeks as the entrance to the new ASDA takes shape.

The northbound side of Pheasant Street running from St Martin’s Gate to Lowesmoor will close on Monday 7th February and will re-open on Friday 8th April. The closure will allow for the construction of a new entrance roundabout and the associated drainage.

A newsletter outlining the traffic management plan has been distributed to local businesses and residents and conversations have been held with interested parties in advance of the works. Temporary traffic lights are not being used to avoid traffic being restricted in a concerted effort to keep traffic flowing along St Martin’s Gate. Traffic will also be able to flow southbound along Pheasant Street..

Selwyn Rowley of Carillion Richardson said: “Unfortunately, the road works are unavoidable and we thank people for their patience during this important phase of the work. We are doing everything we can to minimise congestion through our diversion signage and traffic management planning.”
