It was in fact here in 1838 that Queen Victoria granted Leamington its ‘Royal’ prefix. Restaurant owner Mr Fazal Choudhury claims that: “there is nowhere else like this in Leamington Spa, so it seemed like the perfect location to set up our business, then we found this amazing building, which I fell in love with so there was definitely no going back!” Originally, the hotel was one of the largest in Europe; Visited by the Duke of Wellington, John Nash, Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie and Queen Victoria.
