Winter Wonderland Fun for the Family at Vancouver Quarter, King's Lynn

Vancouver Quarter in King's Lynn has been transformed this Christmas into a Winter Wonderland spectacle, complete with Eco-Ice-Rink and Santa's Grotto, providing Christmas shoppers with a festive family fun atmosphere.

Shoppers get their skates on for Winter Wonderland fun

The exciting centre piece attraction is the eco-ice-skating rink which has been installed between Argos and Westgate Department Store. The eco-ice-rink is operating seven days a week until Sunday 4th January 2009, including late night sessions on Thursdays and Fridays. The admission price is £3.95 per person for a minimum of 45 minutes on the ice. Skaters can visit www.ecoiceskate.com for more information on opening times.

The opening of the eco-ice-rink on Friday 21st November was a spectacular event with entertainment from walk-about winter wonderland characters including Snow Queen and Jack Frost, Frosty the Snowman and majestic stilt walking, silver icicle Christmas trees which added a great visual spectacle to the opening.

The eco-ice-rink is synthetic and requires no power at all so is therefore the most responsible way forward for those who care about the environment. There is still plenty of time to enjoy the eco-ice-rink; people have until Sunday 4th January 2009 to get their skates on.

Lapland has arrived at Vancouver Quarter

The shop between Carphone Warehouse and Card Factory has been transformed into a magical Santa’s Grotto, complete with wonderful animated scenes, characters and animals. The Grotto also has a magical sleigh ride simulator which seats 12 children at a time, complete with animated reindeer and moving scenery. The sleigh ride has enthralled and excited children as they genuinely believe they are travelling on a magical journey to visit Santa.

After the sleigh ride children will see wonderful animated scenes, including Santa’s little elves busy making toys and a talking reindeer! Finally for those children who have been good this year they can meet Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes. Children also receive a personalised photo with Santa and a special Christmas toy.

The price of the Grotto is £8 per child (accompanying adult free) Opening hours are every Thursday and Friday 2pm-8pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm. The Grotto is also open Christmas week, Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th December 12pm-4pm.

The Grotto was officially opened on Friday 21st November by the Mayor who was the first person to meet Santa and experience the sleigh ride along with some very lucky children. The magical opening was complete with entertainment from stilt walking Christmas trees, Frosty the Snowman, the Snow Queen and Jack Frost.

Santa will be at the Grotto until Christmas Eve, so there is plenty of time to meet him before he has to deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve.

‘Vantastic’ Boost for Christmas Toy Appeal

Xmas Toy Appeal.jpgVancouver Quarter will be making a difference this Christmas and putting a smile on the faces of children around West Norfolk by sponsoring the Christmas Toy Appeal. Together with the local radio station KLFM, the shopping centre is appealing to the people of King’s Lynn to buy an extra gift this Christmas, no matter what the size or price, and Vancouver Quarter will donate the presents to the children at local hospitals.

Last year’s Toy Appeal was a phenomenal success with people donating thousands of gifts. Children really did believe Santa had come early and were delighted with all the presents, fingers crossed that we can make this an even better year for them.

Richard Humphries, Communications Manager at QueenElizabethHospital in King’s Lynn says “We are delighted that Vancouver Quarter is running the Christmas Toy Appeal again this year, it makes such a difference to all the children, making Christmas that extra bit special and helping bring a festive fun atmosphere to the hospital”

Shoppers are encouraged to wrap their presents in blue or pink paper and drop them off at the Santa’s Grotto in Vancouver Quarter where they will be on display for all to see before Santa delivers them to the hospitals during the last week of December.
